After years of planning and countless wild hare predictions, 5G is now becoming a reality. Reality means we are now settling down on the core issues enterprise buyers will need to consider with regard to 5G including: coverage; reliability (particularly with new and untried technologies like millimeter wave); measurable performance improvements; device availability; battery life; and ensuring service availability in all areas including inside office buildings and on large remote worksites like mines.

In this session we will hear directly from the carriers where they stand on 5G, what areas they are concentrating on, and what important lessons they are learning from the initial deployments.

  • Clear understanding where we are on 5G deployments, the actual services being deployed, and where the carriers are focusing their investments.
  • Where the new frequency options like MidBand/CBRS, millimeter wave and unlicensed 5 GHz fit into carriers’ plans and what the carriers are learning about performance in trials.
  • What questions to ask carrier reps about upgrading DAS, implementing 5G small cells, or other strategies to ensure good 5G coverage indoors.
  • Where private/semi-private LTE networks (or network slicing strategies) might fit as an alternative to private Wi-Fi networks.
  • 5G Handset Availability, or, “When are we getting a 5G iPhone?”
