The 5G juggernaut is launched and the cellular industry has shifted from ‘promise’ to ‘delivery’ mode- though some of those promises seem to have fallen to the wayside. This session will take a look back at what the carriers promised us in terms of 5G services and how far they’ve actually come in terms of deliverables. We will also talk about some of the surprises we’ve encountered as deployments progressed, and will take a brief look at some of the macro issues in the wireless space that could potentially turn 5G and the existing cellular industry on its ear. You’ll come away with a clear picture of what 5G is delivering today, its near-term prospects, and what it means for your enterprise.
Takeaways:
- Understand technical changes brought about by 5G, like the additional of millimeter wave spectrum, and the impact of those changes
- Understand the potential private networks based on 5G technology, thanks to the FCC’s release of vast quantities of radio spectrum
- Learn about the potential for alternate wireless technologies including WiFi and satellite
Video of this session is available on demand within the Swapcard platform for registered users. Free registration is open through December 2020.
