Thomas has 30 years of telecommunications industry experience focusing on wireless, VoIP, mobile location and emergency services. In the early 1990s, Thomas was a contributing author and voting member of the American National Standards Institute (ANSI) bodies responsible for the first standards for wireless mobile roaming, authentication, call delivery and 9-1-1 services in the USA. In the early 2000s, he was with TruePosition and deployed highly accurate wireless 9-1-1 location systems nationally for both AT&T Wireless and T-Mobile. In the 2010s, Thomas was with Telecommunications Systems Inc and implemented the first standards-compliant national Text-to-911 solution for Verizon Wireless. More recently, he was responsible for multiple regional and state-wide deployments of Next Generation 9-1-1 systems including both Emergency Services Intranet (ESInet) and all-IP Call Handling solutions. Thomas holds an Electrical Engineering degree from the University of Calgary and is a certified Professional Engineer and holds a dozen patents.
