Michelle Reid, Sr. VoIP Engineer, University of West Georgia
30+ years in the Telecommunications Industry. At University of West Georgia, myself and a VoIP Network Engineer manage the needs of the two campuses and the Disaster Recovery Site, as it relates to all telephony needs and requirements. Some of those telephony needs include, but are not limited to Contact Centers, Desk phones, Softphones, Elevator, E911, University Police and Dispatch.
In the 5 ½ years that I’ve been with University of West Georgia, I’ve completed a full migration from the Nortel PBX to the Avaya SIP environment with SM and SMGR. I’ve also migrated the Voice Mail systems to IX Messaging. The University is in the process of arranging Proof of Concepts (POCs) with Zoom and Ring Central. Our campuses have recently migrated to the Teams environment.
While I hold a Associates of Applied Sciences, I originally received my foundation in Telecom while serving Active Duty in the Air Force. That was one of the best decisions I’ve ever made and would do it all over again. The telecom field is constantly evolving and growing, which makes it both a challenge and exciting.
